MARDUK: Still Waiting For American Visas
January 17, 2002Sweden's MARDUK have still not received the proper paperwork from the American Embassy in order to enable them to embark on their North American tour with AMON AMARTH and DIABOLIC, a trek that was originally due to start on January 11th in St. Paul, Minnesota. MARDUK vocalist Legion offered the following update on the situation via a post on the message board of Metal Maniacs magazine yesterday:
"This is Legion of MARDUK. I would just want all of you to know that we still have not recieved all the papers we need to enter the U.S. from the American Embassy. We were promised that we would be fine by the end of last week but still all the members have not got their stuff. The reception chick I talked to today was really surprised about that and said that we all should have our stuff by now but B. War is still waiting for his visa. I know that you might wonder why this has not been dealt with earlier since we have had a full three months to get our shit together but the case was not approved by U.S. Traffic Control until the 21st of December and the embassy is not allowed to issue shit before they do thumbs up. We are doing all in our power to hurry up things I have called, faxed and sent letters there. Yesterday I even drove to the embassy but was sent home at the gate since no visitors are allowed because of the Afghanistan situation. We are in limbo right now and I can't really tell when the last visa is gonna show since we have been promised things over and over and my confidence in the ambassadors credibility is zero. I will post anything new as soon as I know. Also check out www.marduk.nu, which will be updated very soon. I have been pushing really hard but feel like I'm losing my mind since I sent the last additional requested 'post Sep 11th' material in early November and was promised to be home free when we got back from Europe. We have tickets and gear on stand by and are gonna show asap when B. War gets his stuff."
MARDUK and AMON AMARTH were originally scheduled to tour in North America during October/November, but had their visa requests denied in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attack. AMON AMARTH and DIABOLIC are reportedly performing the shows as scheduled.
